DJ DARYLO - Tuesday Night Resident
DARYLO is an example of some of the fine DJ talent that Canada has been steadily producing over the past 5 years. Seen hanging with A-listers such as Lindsay Lohan, Pete Tong, DJ AM, DJ Mehdi and Diplo and following in the experienced footsteps of DJ's Kevin Scott, Scotty Boy, Spider and Spryte, DARYLO is shaping himself up into a stellar quality DJ.
[We'll now continue with some serious DJ BIO Clichés]…
With a failed attempt as a nightclub BusBoy at the age of 20, DARYLO gave Dj'ing a shot. After only dj'ing for 3 months at the same nightclub, he was unexpectedly thrown into a Saturday gig when their current resident quit. Armed with 31 burnt cd’s (ranging from Bone-Thugs, to ATB, Blink 182, and the "Usher – Yeah" single), a tray-loading Denon cd player, and complimentaryin-flight "Air Canada 3000" headphones, he was on his way. DARYLO spent 4 months there under the dj name d.lo (not that anyone ever asked), and then took a 6 month hiatus to manage a new club, but continued to make a mix cd series titled "LA Gangster Pool Party". In May 2005, DARYLO had a one-time playing interview at Vancouver most-prestigious club, Caprice (www.capricenightclub.com) and his dj career got a little more serious…
In the past 3 years at Caprice, DARYLO has dj'd the biggest parties the city has seen, and has become arguably Western Canada's Most Versatile dj. Being one of maybe 4 djs in Vancouver that play more than 1 genre ("Call on Me and Journey" don’t make a hiphop dj "versatile" / "Usher Yeah" doesn’t make a house dj "versatile"), DARYLO has been asked to play and hold a monthly residency @ ‘Rok Box’ @ Tabu Ultra Lounge in the MGM Hotel, Las Vegas. DARYLO's talent of being able to incorporate any song into a set (and he does mean ANY) has made him stand out like a "6 foot tall kid in grade 3" from other dj’s. In terms of a particular style or flare that would peg DARYLO, it's hard to pigeon-hole him to anyone genre. He himself has coined his style as "ELECTRO, GLAM and HYPHY", or basically "Whatever the hell I want".
Acknowledged as one of THE FIRST DVJ's on the Canadian West Coast, DARYLO enjoys integrating his sets with his video mixes to spice things up and he has been capturing the attention of the powerhouses in the industry. After winning last summer’s "BullPen" on Crooklyn Clan's The Vault, DARYLO recently joined an elite group of DJ's in Crooklyn Clan's Crack4DJ's (www.crack4djs.net). DARYLO's work can now be downloaded and used by other DJ's to enhance or beef up their sets (WARNING: use at your own discretion!) DARYLO also remixes and edits for Kevin Scott’s, Direct Music Service (FatWax, ReRuns, Crates Savers, Fill in the Gap), available at www.directmusicservice.com. He also enjoys equipment sponsorship from ODYSSEY DJ GEAR.
He is a versatile deejay who prides himself on the ability to pull music from all genres and throw them into a remix that quite often has a rocky edge to it. DARYLO's "Face Down Sex" remix has gotten "more play than Britney Spears", from heavyweights like Dj AM, Vice, Kevin Scott, DiscoTech, A-Trak; while being featured on many of their mix cds. Some of the Old School remixes from Foreigner and The Beatles, "Cold As Ice Like That" and "Hello Goodbye Grindin" prove that it "doesn’t need to include Fatman Scoop or Lil Jon to make you hyped".
Dubbed, "Vancouver’s Golden Boy" by the Vancouver nightlife scene, he has a got a sense of humor. On his MySpace page (www.myspace.com/djdarylo), DARYLO refers to himself as a one-man-band, "I am THE band Yoko!!!!! - 2 technics mk5 - DVJ 1000-x - Pioneer DJM800 - 15" MacBook Pro - Serato Scratch Live - and I shit u not... I rock all those at once".
